Cat care volunteer
Would you like to help cats in a concrete way in Maukula?
Caretaker members have regular shifts every day from 9 am to 12 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm, taking care of the health of the cats in the facility and the cleanliness of the premises. Alternatively, you can also come as a substitute shift worker if you are unable to commit to any specific time.
A comprehensive orientation is provided for all tasks. In addition to the care tasks, a caretaker meeting is held once a month, which you are encouraged to attend.
You can come along according to your own schedule, you do not have to commit to any specific shift repeatedly. However, we would like you to be able to participate in shifts at least once or twice a week.
You can express your interest in working as a care worker to maukula@maukula.com. Tell us a little about yourself and your experience with cats in the email. Working as a care worker is voluntary work.
Cat godparents
Cat godparents visit the Maukula facility to play with the cats and get them used to the presence of humans during care shifts. You can express your interest in working as a cat godparent to maukula@maukula.com. Being a cat godmother is a voluntary job.
Acting as a foster home
Maukula is constantly looking for new foster homes for cats! The foster home offers a homeless cat a temporary home before finding a permanent home. The association pays for the cat's maintenance (litter, food, medicine) and veterinary costs.
The cat to be placed may be very shy and may not be used to people. The foster home must understand that taming such a cat requires patience and time. Experience is desirable, but not mandatory. The association offers guidance and support whenever necessary.
The foster home is required to be ready to respond to a placement request even at short notice and to be able to isolate the cat from any other animals in the home. The new cat must as such be in a separate space from other animals. The association always checks the suitability of the placement home in connection with the foster home interview. A foster home agreement is made with the foster home, the terms of which both parties undertake to comply with.
If you are interested in foster home operations, please contact maukula@maukula.com. Tell us about yourself and what kind of foster home you would be in the message.
